My dog killed my mom's dog...what to do!?

I just got back from a 2 week long ski trip, when i arrived home to a very upset family.

It seems as if my dog (70lb lab/rott/mutt) had attacked my moms (25lb Mutt).

odd thing is these dogs lived with each other for about 3 years now, with no other incidences.

They never fought, or bit each other. My dog has never had any behavior issues and she has plenty of training.

I cant understand how my dog would just attack my moms dog.

My dad found my mom's dog dead in the garage. It seems as if my dog bite my moms dog in the neck and head.
He said my dog totally knew she was in trouble and did something really wrong.

I have considered putting my dog down for this.

My family is extremely angry and my sister wont even let her kids near my dog anymore.

advice?

Sorry man, putting it to sleep is the only option i'm afraid. One of my neighbors a few houses up went on vacation and left their two big Akita mixes to roam free in the back yard. Well they dug out and ran down to my house jumped my 3' chainlink fence and almost killed my golden retriever, he almost didn't survive the night. They had him quartered, one biting his neck the other his leg. He lost an entire muscle in his leg and they ripped his testicles out. I wasn't home at the time but I would have shot them both.

I let the entire neighborhood know there were fence jumping vicious dogs around and the akita neighbors had the choice basically to put the dogs to sleep or move out. So many little kids around here, it could have been any of them. They moved out a week later after paying like a 3000 dollar vet bill. They still owe me more money.

The other dog could have been defending itself, leaving said marks. It wouldn't give any clue as to which one started it.

Defending itself or not, put it down or give it up for adoption -- if your sister's kids are going to be around it, there's no doubt they could provoke the same reaction some way, somehow. Sucks, but a dog that size could easily kill a kid, and it has now shown that it doesn't have the restraint to resist its urges.


FYI, I hate kids, and love dogs, I just consider this good sense.

Improper raising of an animal has it's consequences. You are now learning one of them. Better sleep with the bedroom door shut before you're the next mutt it kills.

If youre still living with Mommy, move out, keep your dog, dont leave it unattended and get your mom a new mutt. Your sister's kids shouldnt be around your dog anyway. Tell them to get their own pooch.

Tell your Mom if she doesn't give your Playboy collection back and let you have girls in your room with the door closed, that she is next.
