Why are french doors so expensive?

Anderson french door, basic hardware, screen, 72" opening is almost $2500

I can get a similarly equipped Anderson slider for half of that???

I just put the $350 unit in one of my rentals. Works just fine. :paper:

No idea what would make one cost $2500 but I sure hope its nice!

Yeah I don't know either. Home Depot too.

They stock the sliders. Everyone told her how nice French doors would look, that's what she wants.

Fawk that I'm paying for it.

I know they have less expensive french doors than $2500. What makes these the ones you want?

Hate sliding glass doors, french doors look so much better.

She doesn't want the dividers in the windows. I want wood interior with vinyl exterior. Screen door and hardware.

I think the door itself was $1500, but the screen door, hardware, etc pushed it to $2500

My brother does. I would if I had such. Kind of doubt my parents would... casual about such things they have become.
We did until the kittens knocked it in place when wrestling while I was outside. :owned:

Andersen makes some nice stuff. Probably not 2500 bucks nice but I wish I had their Windows in my house. Not this shitty jeldwen shit.

The Anderson Doors are so much better than the lesser brands, that the $2500 almost makes sense. I am still going with the neuma doors due to budget constraints though.

French doors over sliders for the convienance and quietness in opening them, additionally, no tracks to step over and you can open up the entire 72 inches when you need to bring in something big or just want to leave them open for a party or great weather. A slider you can not even open the full 36 side in most cases.

It's obvious Anderson is nicer, which is why it's funny he's complaining about the price.

A slider won't require a larger header as a French door will. I'd gladly rip apart the exterior of my house to pull the slider, frame accordingly and install a French door. IMHO, a patio door would be better. Then again, I won't pay retail.
