Thoughts on Xterra

I've never seen one of those on a trail or even the slightest bit dirty, and that's the only photo I've seen of one wheeling. :clapping:

The guy who did my eyes had one all chromed out. He drove it on alternate days, paired with a similarly-blinged-out H1.

Guy who did your eyes? :puzzled:

Buddy of mine's buddy (I know him but not too well) has a G500 that he has taken off road often. He actually took it on his property when he first bought it. Has a D90 with various items, too. I believe the swapped a 5-speed into the D90 (was the autobox)

i'm surprised. the run of the mill ones are only 60K or so, certainly H2 territory. but the amg models push up over 100K

I love. The best $4400 I ever spent on anything including teh Milkmobile. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I now have perfect 20/15 vision, improved from 20/infinity.

Sister and dad both got it done. Father in law and sister in law got it too. All are 100% satisfied after the first 2 days. I guess things are wierd for a couple days.
3 of the 4 were astigmatisms and the fourth was near sighted. All were very successful. Just make sure you go to someone reputable, not Dr. Discount on the corner.

Gewd info, both of you. Not something for me currently, but something I might consider in coming months.

I just wonder if my eyes are getting worse... they've been the same for a few years, but my dad's vision got worse every few years until he hit about 50....

My eyes were a little bloodshot and dry, and the slightest bit sore, not from the surgery (which is painless) but from the thing that they use to hold your eyeball still. I had it done one afternoon, and drove myself to work the next morning after the follow-up exam. Wore sunglasses all day for a few days.

my dad was legally blind as was the FIL and both see fine now without glasses. Dad prefers to wear glasses still while reading, though he doesn't need to. the ones he uses are basically just normal glass. My sister was getting new glasses every 6-8 months (WOW) and she got her astigmatism corrected with the lasik and hasn't worn glasses for 3 years. All seem very liberated. Now if we can only find a "cure" like that for hearing loss, I'm in. Hell, I'd even volunteer to test it.

I had wanted it forever, and had long planned to get it when it had become completely safe, affordable, and without significant side effects. For me it hit that point about 16 months ago.

I paid more to go to a guy who is VERY experienced, and has the latest technology. My deal was all-laser (no blades) and included mapping my cornea to correct minor imperfections that are present on the surface of every eye. My far vision is sharper than if I had been born with perfect sight.

My sister was SUV shopping when her Honda SUV was wearing out, looking at the smaller Ford SUVs, Hondas (CR-V I believe), and was asking what I thought about the Liberty. I suggested she look at the XTerra. One test drive and she was hooked, bought it on the spot. She claims that of all the SUVs she looked at in her price range the XTerra was worlds better than the others. She still loves it. I tried to talk her into an older used SUV for half the price, but for howmuchamonthing a new SUV that isn't going offroad beyond the occasional dirt road it would be my first choice as well.

The new Xterra with the Nismo offroad package is more capable than all most all of the competition.

Agreed. But if I were buying an SUV I would take it offroad. For that I'd go with an Unlimited Rubicon. Unlike many of the haters here I LIKE the Rubicon and with a small lift and 33's it would be all I would need for now. The Xterra would be a better on-road vehicle, but I think the Unlimited Rubicon would be more capable off-road. I could be wrong, I haven't really looking into the Xterra much, but I'm a jeeper at heart. To put it in computer terms, I run linux for all my personal computers, but I recommend Windows to family members as it's friendlier (no Mac vs Windows debate please). In this case I'd buy the Jeep but recommend the Xterra to my sister.
