Dad bought two of them and we are anxious to blow them up.....just would like an idea of what we should expect.

The best thing to do is mix the powder then put a bunch of rocks, bolts, nuts, etc into the mix. Pour it into something then get real close and shoot at it.


Make sure you film it.

it was something else. an exploding target about the size of a pack of cigarettes. i honestly don't recall what it was filled with. i did not purchase. and... it was roughly fifteen years ago.

my only vote was for teh coolness of an exploding target...

The Tannerite that you can by is an actual explosive. It's TNT equivilent is not very high but it will do some damage. What I make is a more pure form of Tannerite without the **** they add into it to make the smoke and stuff. It also takes a high velocity round to set it off unlike the commercial stuff that you can set off with a .22 or 9mm.

gotcha. that's exactly what we were lighting ours off with - a .22

I had Leon shooting dead nuts into the stuff I make with a .40. Won't go off. I've nailed it repeatedly with a .22 and it won't go off. Even a winged shot with a .223 won't always get it to go.

hell you blew a fawking tree out of the ground. Tiiiimber.....and that propane tank easily flew 125 yards if not more....not to mention the damage that was done to it.

dont mix it before you transport it..............plus it needs a round to set it off.

It's a reactive target meaning it has to react to something.
Dropping it on the ground?? You watch to many movies. There are some guys that are ex-EOD at another site that constantly play catch with balls of C4. You can burn it and it won't go off, hit it with a sledge hammer and it won't go, you can do a bunch of stuff to Tannerite and it won't explode but put a decent shock into it and it will detonate. It is also a binnary explosive, illegal to mix and then transport. You have to mix it at sight and use it right then.

dropping it is a slow impact.......think about it a .223 round travels at how many FPS?

HAHAHAAAA!! thats hilarious. shootin a propane tank? i would love to see that. we had a guy (drunk) throw one of those small campstove butane tanks in a fire before and that was big enough of an explosion. i cant imagine a propane tank...

the chit dad bought has to be hit with a high velocity round......not sure where he got or the specifics......we plan to hit it with his AR15 and see what happens.
