JC Whitney.
I haven't seen one of those catalogs in years. I loved looking through that freakshow of a rag.
Light up hood ornaments, musical air horns, P.A. systems..... they had it all.
It was fun to look through. Don't forget the light up/chaser lighted license plate frame....I'm embarrassed to say I almost wanted one of those when they first came out.
Other than the wipers, I didn't buy any useless bolt on crap...but I would ask my parents to get it for me for my birthdays. They never would buy it. Then there's my friend with the Cavalier whose parents would threaten to not let him park in the driveway if he did anything else to his car. Really the two things I wanted, when I had the Escort, were rear window louvres. The one-piece design of course, not that chitty 3 directional ones with the center piece and 2 side pieces like you'd see on camaros. I wanted to get those and paint it red to match the car.
Then, one day, I saw in the JC Whitney catalog a set of drop-spindles. Those made me want to lower the Escort a couple inches...that was before I ever even saw a lowered vehicle other than classic cars at car shows. Oh, and I almost forgot, I wanted to cut out a spot in my rear bumper of the Escort and put a Borla exhaust on it. Looking back, I wish I had done it. You never saw stuff like that in the area. Now it's every Honda on the road.
