No, it doesn't. Isuzu designed the engine, but they are produced by DMAX, a joint venture between Isuzu and GM, of which GM holds a majority stake since 2003.

I think if they designed it then its an Isuzu engine. Bottom line is that they couldn't pull it off themselves.

All I'm saying is that GM controls the design and production of Duramax engines now, and Isuzu could cease to exist worldwide and GM's production of diesels wouldn't be phased at all by it.

My coworker and myself drove to the Airport in his new Duramax equipped pickup and I have to say GM did a very nice job. What a sweet truck and this is coming from a Ford pickup owner.

Thank god they didn't try it again and have it go horribly wrong, we would all have to wait another 30 years for Diesels in our vehicles.

The GF had one beore her XJ/ Total POS but the thing that finally got us to give up and sell it for $800 was the craptasstic 4L60E GM trans giving out at 120K.
