It'll be just like the Epipen shortage. "They" will come out telling us what we already knew, that the replacement interval was BS and we can go longer. All the same, I ordered a couple 5-qt jugs of Penzoil 0w20. I probably have 2-3 in the shop already but as a "supercommuter" that changes oil every ~6k miles and does about 600 miles per week, I'm sure I'll use it. I also like to keep my supply cabinet stocked.
IMO, it's going to be twofold, the Iran thing will be the trigger and the panic buying will push it over the edge, much like the TP thing during COVID and the lack of milk & bread at the grocery store when snow is forecast.
Wonder if I should hold onto my waste oil rather than recycling it? Emerging secondary market for used oil? Changed my mom's Subaru this afternoon. Have a out 50qt of mixed oil in my shop. 25qt of penzoil 0w20 -- should last me over a year on my normal interval with the Accord.
Waste oil tops the MINI off in a pinch. Poor thing has had more of that oil than clean new oil lolz

Remember when the step up to mid-grade was 10 cents and premium was 10 cents more? I remember that even when gas first crested $2 about 20 years ago, it was, say, $2.09-$2.19-$2.29. But nowadays it's more like 30 cents more for each type of gas.
