ATTN: Proud southerners

:clapping: Yup. ALL the best places are on the Coast. Like NY/NJ. :disagree:

The coastal parts of NY are urban and full of scum. They do not count.

Any part of NJ on the coast, however, is pretty nice as long as it's over 30 min from NY. I would rather live there anyday than in then some landlocked place like CO which is just depressing....been there a million times and not impressed by the land, the people, the skiing, etc. Just nothing good there, unlike the south which is better than anywhere so long as you stay on the coast and away from the inland.

Dumbass :dunce:

I knew it stood for four corners, I just always referred to and hear that area reffered to as the SW.

SW would imply more nevada and less CO.

I'm not a huge fan of Nevada, but I like CO.

Or even Colorado. We'll standby while New Jersey Dumbass hunts up a link. :D

And please tell everyone you know how much California sucks, we don't need any more Jersey jerks either.
Yeah like anyone with a solid head on their shoulders would want to move to the trail mix land of fruts and nuts.

Been there....not worth my time to ever go back.

Don't have to, it speaks for itself, and when your people travel around they do the damage by themselves.

Yup. Take your new jersey self and head to the South. MUCH nicer people in both places. Stay put then. :agree:

I personally enjoy it when the carpetbagger crew starts chewing itself up from the inside.

:hatprop:

I personally love it when southerners refer to carpetbaggers thus lending credibility to those willing to kick southerners when they are down. :agree:

All of you guys bitching about which part of the country is best, and you know, it means absolutely diddly-squat. It all comes down to personal preference, and where one's pursuits lie. Each and every part of the country offers something unique, and I for one can enjoy almost any part of the country I visit.

For reference, I grew up on a small farm 30 minutes from Omaha. True, it is far from the most glamorous or interesting place I have been, but by God, it was a d*mn good place to grow up.

And about racism and the whole South stuff, the true fault lies in ignorance. Lots of kids from the high school I went to proudly displayed confederate flags in the windows of their trucks, and I can guarantee they had absolutely no idea who, what, or why the Civil War (or War of Northern Agression, if that's what you wanna call it) was fought for. They simply lash onto the symbol because, as Koolbreeze stated, it represents rebellion. And racism was very common in my area, simply because there were a total of maybe 20 black people living in my home town of 7,500. Racism in this sense is spawned entirely by lack of contact and experience with another culture. How often have you succumbed to ignorance inflamed by arrogance in an argument or your actions towards others?

And if I remember correctly from my American History and Government classes, one fundamental aspect of having a Federal Government is that the Federal Government is the ultimate governing body. For example, states elect senators to represent their state at the Federal level, and not vice versa, and the Supreme Court has, believe it or not, Supreme jurisdiction in the United States.

Slavery was never a guaranteed right for anyone, and really only has cursory mention in the Constitution. The word Slavery is actually nowhere to be found within those pages.

And tariffs, well I have seen no explicit evidence anywhere in this thread that actually shows how the tariffs imposed upon Southern exports were unfair, and I find it very hard to believe that in the North, tariffs didn't exist either. The government, which supposedly represents all states has to make money some way, and since agriculture was the main export of the South, they taxed it, plain and simple. Too bad they didn't let slaves count for more than 3/5th's of a vote, maybe the South could have gotten a little more power in the house, and averted the whole mess...

wow this is still going on?

my 2 cents,

not for everyone, but for me...

You call yourself an American, you are proud to be an American. what if for some strange and unheard of reason Iraq or whoever came over and kicked our ass. Would you still call yourself an American even if America was taken over by Iraq and called Mohammad land? just b/c they took over the land does not mean they took it over in you. I did not agree with the salvery thing though. and I still dont agree with unsweet tea...
